There are also practical considerations. Many men are engaged in trades where the wearing of a man wedding band would be downright dangerous. Although unlikely it is quite possible for a ring to get caught in machinery. In some jobs a ring cannot be worn on the job, and must be removed. This can also apply to women.

It was, in fact, during the second world war that the use of wedding rings by men became more common. (Note that mens wedding rings and men’s wedding bands are interchangeable, both meaning the same thing.)

It became the custom for US soldiers going to war to publicise their marital status by the wearing of a man’s wedding ring. They were happy to make public their commitment to their wife by the wearing of a public symbol that declared that commitment to all. Given that this habit of wearing men’s wedding bands was reasonably new it was all the more creditable that these men were willing to forego the marital obscurity available to them from not wearing a ring and actively chose to make a public statement about their choice.

Men’s wedding rings have become increasingly more common since that time. Today it is probably as common for a newly married man to wear a ring as not. This may be due to several factors. The modern man may consider it his duty to choose to make the same public marital statement as his wife will. And his wife may well consider it a condition of the marriage that he do so. After all, in these days of equality, if she is prepared to make a statement then should he not do so as well?

Generally though, even where the couple are to wear a matching ring set, the two rings are different. It is more common for the man’s wedding ring to be wider than the woman’s. This is because men’s hands and women’s hands are different.

Tungsten Carbide is commonly referred to as the engagement band that is permanently polished. Tungsten carbide is the most durable ring anybody can purchase. Tungsten by itself could shatter when dropped and easily cracks due to its unique hardness, so therefore requires carbide to prevent shattering. On its own, tungsten is vulnerable to scratches and damage just like any other metal, such as titanium and steel.

Tungsten is the perfect combination of unbelievable strength with style and comfort. Tungsten carbide is roughly 10 times harder than 18k gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium. Tungsten measures between 8 and 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. (Diamonds are a 10 – the highest.)

The Celtic Triple Drop embodies the three forces of nature and represents unity, strength, and fullness of spirit & being. The Celtic Round symbolizes self completeness. The Celtic Four represents the four seasons and may be a sign of good fortune. Lastly, the Serpent Knot represents the continuity of eternal life. Whatever Celtic ring is chosen, life, happiness and love is embodied.

Tungsten rings are composed of a metal alloy, tungsten carbide. The alloy allows for maximum hardness and rigidity without sacrificing tensile strength. Tungsten rings are not sizable by ordinary jewelers’ tools (the metal is too hard). Tungsten rings will NOT bend. Due to their extreme hardness, Tungsten Rings will hold their shape and shine longer than any ring on the market, and which is why they are referred to as the “Permanently Polished Rings”. Tungsten Rings are the most wear resistant rings available. Hardness, assuring long lasting beauty. Permanently polished Tungsten rings take a brilliant high polish and resist scratching longer than any metal ever offered to the public.

Recently, many of the Tungsten Carbide Ring companies have begun to manufacture Tungsten Rings and Wedding bands with Celtic designs circling the ring. Carved Tungsten rings have just recently emerged in the Tungsten market. Carved Tungsten Rings have deep inner grooves manufactured in the Tungsten ensuring the design and meaning will last a lifetime. Choosing Tungsten for your Celtic ring of choice would be a decision that would truly symbolize forever.

Celtic Rings have a deeper meaning than your standard rings and wedding bands. Celtic rings symbolize love, happiness and life. The ever popular Claddagh ring has symbolized for ages the status of a person and whether or not they are single or if there heart belongs to another.

Many stores don’t list which alloy they are selling because they don’t know which alloy they are selling. If they don’t know, it is most likely cobalt alloy or pure tungsten which are cheaper and inferior to the nickel binder tungsten carbide wedding bands.

The unique formula of our tungsten carbide allows these rings to be both visually stunning and durable enough for every-day use. You are no longer required to constantly remove and replace your ring in order to protect its finish. Our tungsten carbide rings are made with the superior nickel-binder alloy instead of being made from pure tungsten or with the cobalt-binder alloy. Nickel-binder alloys are superior for several reasons:

* Nickel-binder tungsten carbide is hypoallergenic, chemically inert and therefore will not oxidize, cause rashes, or irritate the skin. Good jewelers do not use cobalt as it can have an adverse reaction with the wearer’s skin, sometimes causing a rash. Cobalt bonds with oils in the skin and leeches out of the ring resulting in oxidation. The oxidation appears similar to tarnished sliver, but cannot be removed by polishing or grinding. Nickel, on the other hand, does not bond with oil and therefore does not oxidize.

With a well selected beautiful mens or ladies tungsten carbide wedding ring you get all of the good from classic metals with even more features. You get the luster of a polished silver or titanium without the need to ever worry about regular maintenance. You get the elegance of gold but a hardness much closer to diamond. A piece of tungsten jewelry can withstand the test of time and be with you for the rest of your life.

One of the classiest styles of tungsten carbide ring is the beveled variety. This is because it adds a little accent to a traditional polished band without overdoing it and becoming gaudy. One of the better beveled tungsten rings I’ve come across recently was presented by our affiliate. This ring was great because it really captured the elegance which a beveled tungsten ring is capable of. I’ve got an image of this beautiful piece below so that you can see just how precious it is.

This tungsten carbide ring is better than most because of the satin-like finish which sits between the beveled edges. This lends a certain class to the ring that many simply beveled designs lack. Since the entire ring is composed of tungsten, it has the excellent physical properties and longevity that this kind of material is known for.

And the best part is that the facet edges will never dull or smooth out over the years. Even were you to take a nail file to the thing, it still wouldn’t harm the faceted surface (don’t try this at home though, folks). So you get all the charm of a unique and characterful ring with none of the worry or responsibility of regular care and maintenance.

The design of the carvings is known as a celtic knot. The symbolism of eternal bonds represented by traditional tungsten carbide rings is enhanced even further by this design. This makes it absolutely ideal as a tungsten carbide wedding band. Every time you gaze upon the luscious luster of this ring it’ll be hard to keep from remembering the timeless vows you made on your wedding day.

Tungsten rings inlaid with gold, silver or palladium are created by grinding a groove or a channel in the center of the ring and precisely “swedging” the metal into the channel under extreme pressure.

Composition is usually 84% of tungsten and 16% of carbon and nickel. There is no cobalt in the composition of our rings. Cobalt will develop a negative reaction to your skin and will in a short time period will develop oxidation spots that cannot be removed or polished from your ring. This is due to the Cobalt reacting to the human body.

Each ring goes through a 30-stage precision grinding process by craftspeople using diamond-embedded grinding tools held in specially designed machinery. Tungsten, nickel, and Carbide are ground into powders and then are compressed and forged together with high-pressure dies and then is sintered (fired) in an oxygen-free furnace at 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit (carbon black, at 900 – 2200C) in pusher or batch furnace (process called carburization) to form rings blanks that are indestructible and scratch proof.
